Pat Suzuki ~ Two Great Songs

I first heard and downloaded these Pat Suzuki songs from one of my favorite blogs, I'm Learning To Share. Unfortunately, the uploads of these two songs did not work with my audio programs. There seems to have been something embedded into the song that stopped the music midway through each song in the burn process, ruining the CD. My best audio programs couldn't remove the glitch and I was tempted to throw in the towel.

Fortunately, the webmaster of I'm Learning To Share re-upped the two songs and I tried again. Sadly to say though.... the same glitch occurred in the same spot and again the music died. I then became industrious and opened the song in GOM Viewer, ran the audio capture function, saved the two files as WAV files, then converted them back into mp3 files.

Finally, I met with success and can now burn the songs to disc.

Believe In Rudy - Carjack Remix

I entered a WMFU Blog contest to create a song featuring snippets of Rudy Giulliani's "September Eleven" sound bites from his many speeches across the country. The file features Tupac Shakur, LeAnn Rimes, Boys II Men, Queen, the Monkees, Will Smith, Shania Twain, and a few songs from Broadway's Phantom Of The Opera and Wicked.

The sound file is in mp3 format and is 21 megs. Of course, it is nine minutes and eleven seconds in length.

Pop For A Rainy Day

I took a few pop songs and dropped them in "I Ching" fashion then picked up the resulting pieces in an American attempt at feng shui. You ask, "Huh?" I scambled the songs together in unexpected ways. You might not like them on first listen but these mixes with grow on you over time.

I mashed-up the Beatles and Led Zeppelin to make "Because, Black Dog, Because." It has a driving beat, urgent pulsing guitars, and slow multi-layered vocals by John Lennon. I think it sizzles, adding life to an otherwise syrupy ballad.

I mixed up the Beach Boys and Patsy Cline to make "God Only Knows I'm Crazy." The results? God knows it's crazy. The reason behind the remix? Consider it a Wilsonian confession of what happened in the 60's. Besides, the two lyrics compliment each other quite well.

I mixed Madonna with Queen to make "Like A Prayer We Are The Champions." I already had mixed LeAnn Rimes with Queen on "We Will Rock You" so this was a natural. It's a very early DJWildBill so the mix is quite rough. I include it here as a companion piece to the other song.

The surprise in this grouping is my mash-up of the Monkees and Hanson. Two pop icons from different decades, they compliment each other well. I mixed Hanson's "Rain" with the Monkees' "Daydream Believer" and am quite pleased with the result. It's still bubblegum but it is unlike the other flavors you'll find on store shelves.

Rock & Soul

Here are my attempts to merge and mix rock with soul. I've taken Metallica's "Enter Sandman" and mixed it with Alicia Key's "A Woman's Worth." I made two mixes and included both here. You may like it, you may not. It's unique and it now completely lacks any hip-hop beat.

The next track is an amalgam of rock magnates U2, hip-hop chanteuse Ciara, and rapper Usher. I put a mix of Ciara's "Get Up" and Usher's "Burn" to the backing track of U2's "One" to create a new storyline based on both of the two songs. He's now pleading with her to stay out of the clubs and at home with him. She is telling the world about the dancers she's running into there. The resulting song is entitled "Get Up And Burn One" and again, there's no trace of a hip-hop beat or a dance track. It is uniquely DJWildBill.

I went wild with Amy Winehouse's "Amy, Amy, Amy" choosing to mix it with Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing." The result is seductive, suggestive, and earth moving! This is a writhing rhythm!

Finally, this mix contains my choice track of TLC and Erykah Badu mashed-up as "Waterfalls On And On." I kept the backing rhythms from TLC's classic "Waterfalls" and added Erykah Badu's sultry vocals from "On And On" from her first album. The result provides Badu a new beat and is quite smooth. One of my first mash-ups, I am pleased to present you this mix.

LeAnn Rimes ~ Amazing Grace & Then Some

I've always loved LeAnn Rimes' voice. When I found that she had released a vocal only version of her release of Amazing Grace I was ecstatic and took a few out of the ordinary and quite unexpected musical risks.

No one would expect an established country recording artist to work with Led Zeppelin, Queen, or Jimi Hendrix and few have heard of Rita Coolidge's family group Walela. I experimented with adding LeAnn's voice to the classic Led Zeppelin track "Kashmir" and to Hendrix's "All Along The Watch Tower". After not entirely hating the resulting mash-ups, I mixed LeAnn's voice with the Queen stadium rocker "We Will Rock You."

By far though, my best work with LeAnn's track is my mix with Walela's "Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee." The mash-up of the pleas from Christians and from Native Americans meld into a new track which resonates with equal amounts of angst and reverence. Sounding ethereal, the mash-up transcends cultural bounds and at times may seems as an attempt at atonement for past wrongs. I respectfully hope you'll like it.
